Frequently asked questions

If something here is not answered, ask us. We would rather say “ask us” than publish an answer we have not thought through.

The service

What exactly do you do?

We take your carrier and MGA commission statements, read every line, match each one to the policy it pays on, chase what does not reconcile, and close the month. You get a reconciled ledger, producer payouts, and a list of what is still outstanding.

Is this software or a service?

Both, but the service is the point. There is software — you get a login to your own book and can look whenever you like — and we run it. You are not buying a system to learn, staff and maintain.

Do I have to change my agency management system?

No. We work from the statements your carriers already send. If your agency system can also tell us about your policy book, that makes the matching better, but it is not a prerequisite.

What if my carrier sends a format you have never seen?

We map it. That is our work, not yours, and it happens once — after that the format is known. Carriers lay statements out the same way for everybody, so a format learned for one agency is a format already learned for the next.

Getting started

How do I try it?

Send us a month of real statements from your own book. We reconcile that month and show you the result, including what did not match. That is a better test than any demonstration account, because it is your business.

How long does onboarding take?

It depends on how many carriers you deal with and how many of them are new to us. Ask us with your carrier list in hand and we will give you a straight answer rather than a brochure figure.

What do you need from me?

The statements, and somebody who can answer questions about your book when a line is genuinely ambiguous. That is most of it.

Your data

Can other agencies see my book?

No. Each agency is separated in the system, and a login only ever reaches its own agency’s data. What is shared between agencies is knowledge about carrier statement FORMATS — how a carrier lays out its columns — and nothing about anyone’s clients, policies or money.

Who at your end can see it?

The people doing your reconciliation. That is the nature of a managed service — somebody has to look at the statements to reconcile them — and we would rather say so plainly than imply nobody ever sees your data.

What happens to my data if I leave?

It is your book. Ask us about export and deletion specifically and we will put it in writing rather than describing it loosely on a web page.

The detail

What happens when a carrier pays a different rate than expected?

The statement wins. What the carrier actually paid becomes the figure of record, and the earlier estimate stops being shown as though it were real. That difference is exactly what you want surfaced, not smoothed over.

What about cancellations and clawbacks?

A cancellation that claws commission back is tracked against the policy it came from, so a producer is not paid on money the agency had to give back.

What about endorsements?

An endorsement changes the premium the commission is calculated on. It is carried separately and added to the base, because reading only the base premium understates the commission on every endorsed policy.

Do you catch underpayments?

That is the main reason to do this properly. A line that does not match, a payment that is short, a rate that is not the one agreed — those are found and chased rather than quietly set aside at the end of a long month.
