Commission reconciliation: spreadsheets vs. EZ Commissions
Many small and midsized P&C agencies reconcile commissions in spreadsheets. It works, but it takes hours of copying, looking up and matching by hand every month.
The spreadsheet way
- Copy or re-key each carrier statement into a spreadsheet.
- Look up every line in your agency's book to find the matching policy.
- Handle policy-number formats that differ from carrier to carrier.
- Track the lines that don't match somewhere else.
- Start from scratch with the next statement.
The EZ Commissions way
- Upload the carrier's file. Upload a CSV, Excel file, or PDF. There is no template to fill in. EZ Commissions identifies the policy number, insured, effective date, premium, and commission.
- Automatic matching. Each line is checked against your book using the policy number, effective date, line of business, and premium. A confidence score helps you see which matches deserve another look.
- Exceptions with a reason. Missing policy number? Policy not in your book? More than one possible match? Unmatched lines are flagged with the reason.
- Corrections that keep working. When you match a line by hand, EZ Commissions remembers that carrier's policy-number variations and insured names for your agency, so the next statement takes less work.

| Next month | Start over | Your corrections carry forward |
From 80 hours to 4 hours at our founder's agency
At our founder's agency, the previous AgencyBloc workflow took about 80 hours from beginning to end when commissions were the sole focus. That included manually entering each policy, importing statements, and matching them to existing policies.
Using EZ Commissions and an internal QQ Catalyst integration, our founder now completes that work in about four hours total. This integration is not yet available to clients; Standard is available now with manual statement uploads.
Our founder's reported experience at their own agency. The 80-hour estimate assumes two 40-hour workweeks. Processing time varies with your agency's data, volume, and workflow.
